Introducing the 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift: Fresh Styling, Enhanced Features, and New Turbo-petrol Power
Kia has unveiled the eagerly anticipated facelifted version of the popular Seltos compact SUV in India. With its first major update since its launch in August 2019, the 2023 Kia Seltos comes with a host of design changes, updated features, and an exciting new powertrain option. Let's delve into the details of what this refreshed model has to offer.
Exterior Design:
The exterior of the 2023 Kia Seltos features several notable updates. The iconic 'Tiger Nose' grille has been enlarged, while the LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) have been reprofiled and now extend into the center of the grille. A refreshed front bumper with signature tri-element fog lamps adds a touch of freshness. The profile of the Seltos now boasts 18-inch alloy rims, previously exclusive to the X-Line trim, lending the SUV a more muscular stance. At the rear, the Seltos sports new connected tail lamps, exuding a modern look. The overall design is rounded off with a tweaked rear bumper.
Interior Upgrades:
Step inside the facelifted Seltos, and you'll immediately notice the more modern and premium interior. The highlight is the new dual 10.25-inch integrated displays, consisting of a touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital driver's display, reminiscent of the EV6. To accommodate this new layout, the central AC vents have been made slimmer. In addition, there's a new interior color scheme available: black/tan, alongside the existing options of all-black and black/beige.
Enhanced Features:
Kia has bolstered the Seltos' features list, making it even more appealing than before. New additions include a panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brake with auto hold, dual-zone climate control, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The Seltos retains popular features such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, wireless phone charging, connected car technology, ventilated front seats, drive and traction modes, a Bose sound system, and a heads-up display. In terms of safety, it offers six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
New Turbo-petrol Powertrain:
The 2023 Kia Seltos introduces a powerful new engine option - a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine delivering 160PS of power. This turbo-petrol engine joins the existing lineup, which includes a 1.5-liter diesel engine and a 1.5-liter petrol engine. Transmission options for the turbo-petrol variant include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Expected Price and Rivals:
Considering the significant updates, the facelifted Kia Seltos is expected to command a notable premium over the outgoing model, which had a starting price of Rs 10.89 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to compete against its key rivals, including the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, as well as the upcoming Honda Elevate and Citroen C3 Aircross.
With its fresh styling, enhanced features, and the introduction of a new turbo-petrol powertrain, the 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift promises to build on the success of its predecessor and continue to captivate the compact SUV segment. Stay tuned for further updates on pricing and availability as Kia prepares to launch this exciting new model.
